Covid19 claims a dedicated Health Worker, Sr Proscovi Nassejje former Incharge of Butende Health III under the Masaka Diocesan Medical Services Network

Sr. Proscovia Nassejje was born on 17th May 1971, to the late Mr. Jjaggwe of Masaka Soweto. She was a religious sister from the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Reparatrix, Gogonya. She was a senior nursing officer and a senior member of the Counsel of her congregation. At the time of her passing she had been transferred from Masaka where she had served both at Butende H/C III and Ssunga III. She served in other capacities elsewhere.

At about 2:00 pm on 14/7/2021, we received the sad news of the passing of Rev. Sr. Proscovia Nassejje who had been In-Charge at Butende Health Center III until 2021 when she was transferred. Sr. Prossy succumbed to COVID 19 while at Nsambya Hospital. It is thought Sr. Prossy might have caught the deadly virus while in attendance to her father the late Mr. Jjaggwe who had been suffering from the same but passed on three weeks earlier. It is said that she had started feeling bad after the burial of her father and was later admitted into intensive care at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital. She was transferred to Nsambya Hospital for further management until she passed on.

She will be remembered by both her co-workers, fellow health workers and all people as a very hard working person, so dedicated to her work, a loving and a very committed person. At the end of 2020 she was appreciated by the Masaka District Health office for her outstanding performance in health service delivery. While in the Diocesan network she was always among the best performers in all sectors. She always carried a smile with her and was very kind to all those met. She will be deeply missed as noted by many health workers in the Diocese.

Sr. Christine Nabiirye – In-charge Kitaasa H/C III

“Sr. Prossy we thought you would recover but all in vein, it’s like a dream! Darling your smiles!!, We thought the lord would give you more time for preparations , God’s ways are not our ways.” Rest in peace Mukwano. Never shall we forget the times we have shared together. RIP

 Kizito Alex – In-charge Mbirizi H/C III

What I remember about. Sr Prossy, when she had reported as a new In-charge of Butende, she visited most facilities with heads of departments to learn how are other facilities are performing and what they do produce results. She was also good at producing results through working with others. She had empowered her department heads. When you would go to Butende you would think Ben was the In-charge. To me this was a rare good behaviour.  May her soul rest in eternal peace and let perpetual light shine upon her.

Sr. Mukama akuwumuze mirembe tujja kusubwa nnyo era tunakujukiranga olw’obuvumu, obukozi, ekisa, n’omutima ogulumirwa abantu bonna nga tososodde.

It is remembered that in the year 2020 she had survived a very dangerous road accident which had almost claimed her life. A road construction truck had knocked from the behind the car (Health Facility Ambulance) she had been travelling in from duty from Kampala. She survived with a few scratches though the car got terribly damaged. She was lucky to have survived and got very excited when the car was also restored. But this time she could not make despite all the efforts that put to save her life. COVID 19 claimed her life. We are going to miss her so much! May her soul rest in peace.
