Microfinance Partners in Africa (MPA) Help Pregnant Mothers Get Medical Care During the Second Wave of Covid 19 Lockdown in June, July, and August 2021

The maternal services at Masaka Diocesan Health Facilities having been affected negatively by the lock down imposed by the Government of Uganda to stop the Spread of COVID 19, Masaka Diocesan Medical Services requested Micro Finance Partners in Africa ( MPA)  for an emergency  funds to support mothers with emergencies by providing transport to very poor patients by facility vehicles or the ambulance at the Diocesan Health Office, hiring temporary Volunteer  qualified health workers to support Units with Isolated health workers and provide Personal protective equipment for health workers including  Mask and sanitizers. This situation had resulted into some Units being left without enough Health Workers to attend to Patients.

Great appreciation to Micro Finance Partners in Africa (MPA) who contributed shs. 40,542,050 (forty million five hundred forty two thousand and fifty shillings) to this cause. This support had great benefits: 175 mothers and 5 other patients were able to access services from qualified health Personnel. Health facilities were served with Personal Protective Equipment worth 20, 542, 05 (Twenty million five hundred forty two thousand fifty shillings only). Health facilities were facilitated with qualified Volunteers to replace those who were isolated. Some facilities were supplied with Medicines during the lock down. Some Covid 19 Patients were facilitated with ambulance services from their homes to the hospitals where they accessed medication.

Masaka Diocesan Medical services thanks MPA for always standing with the vulnerable people and being ready to support in anyway. Covid 19 has affected all strata especially in areas of finance. The health sector has been wounded badly and needs continuous support in all angles. We appeal to MPA and other partners to continue giving support to the vulnerable people through partnerships and other ways.
