District OVC Project Officers (07 positions)

Reports to: OVC Program Manager

Job Summary: The officer will lead the day-to-day direct program Implementation of field OVC activities in the district. He/she will ensure that mobilization of vulnerable persons and communities for social protection, HIV prevention, and care services is done in line with MGLSD and PEPFAR guidelines within supported districts

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Oversee assessment for beneficiary household to identify specific need for program support
  • Supporting functionality of OVC coordination structures at district and sub county level
  • Leading capacity building initiative among OVC service providers at district and lower levels
  • Support implementation of curricula based initiatives aimed at empowering OVC with life skills and knowledge to prevent HIV and descent livelihood
  • Building systems to ensure effective referral and linkage for OVCs to community structures
  • Ensuring access to quality legal and protective services among victims of child abuse and survivors of GBV
  • Supporting OVC case management and beneficiary assessment to track progress towards graduation
  • Documenting and reporting family and children success stories based on program intervention
  • Carrying out monthly data collection, analysis and reporting on OVC activities in the supported districts.
  • Participating in the Development and implementation district activity schedules or work plans in coordination with the program technical staff
  • With support of the Finance Officer, overseeing the management of finances and administrations at the district level including planning, authorization of expenses and reporting according to the organization
  • Perform duties and other tasks assigned

Job Requirements

  • At least Bachelor’s degree in Social work and Social Administration, Development Studies, Community development, social sciences and education
  • At least 3 years in OVC programming under PEPFAR fund
  • Excellent in computer skills and skills with Microsoft packages
  • Team work and willingness to travel hard to reach areas
  • Having worked with USAID in the last three years is an added advantage
