Event program

The World day of the sick is an event commemorated by the universal Church on 11th February every year since 1992. It has three consistent themes. First, it reminds the faithful to pray intensely and sincerely for those who are sick. Second, the event invites Christians to reflect on and respond to human suffering. And third, this day recognizes and honors all health workers and persons who serve as caregivers

In Masaka Diocese, this day is celebrated at the Diocesan level, spear headed by one of the Diocesan Health Institutions. The lead organizers for the function scheduled on Tuesday 11th February 2019, will be Kijjukizo Parish together St. Elizabeth Health Centre III. Activities on that day include, Holy Mass dedicated to the sick and health caregivers, led by Rt. Rev. Serverus Jjumba, Bishop of Masaka, which will start at 10:00 am and a one-day medical camp for free treatment of patients and distribution of items to the sick. The day before on 10th there will be a general cleaning of Lyantonde town and blood donation On this day we invite people of good will to donate items like soap, sugar, salt, flour, clothes for the needy, sick and the old people.
